It is about time we make a Blog about Kaffe50, one of the nicest and best places to have a snack and hang out in and around Ekkamai. It’s cozy, private, relaxed and comfy and overall one of the best places I can think of to sit and read a book while having a coffee (and a cake) or do some work – if you must.
Aside form being a Cafe and Bakery, Kaffe50 is also a place to buy vintage, retro and antique furniture and accessories, bikes, signs, jukeboxes, instruments and games. You sit on the chairs and tables that are on sale – or sometimes already sold – and most of them are a bit worn which makes them actually more comfy. Much of the furniture comes from Scandinavia and resembles the sleek minimalist furniture style from the mid-90ies. They are imported and renovated in Thailand and there is a warehouse a bit out of town, where you can see more vintage furniture while you can watch some photo collections of those at Kaffe50.
What we tried from the limited menu so far was delicious: the pulled pork burger with fries was awesome and juicy and the Croque Madame (a ham sandwich with bechamel sauce and topped with fried eggs) is a super tasty. We definitely will be back and try some more!
We were also very keen on the cakes and desserts. On our first visit a blueberry cake with lemon icing was on offer, that was quite dense but beautiful, as the icing lifted up the cake and made it fresh and juicy. We also tried a lemon meringue pie and a chocolate pie and we preferred the latter one. The one thing that was a disappointment was the red velvet cake. When it became apparent to the very nice and friendly lady who runs the Cafe that we didn’t like this one, she immediately asked us whats wrong and offered another cake instead.
So you see: you’re well taken care of at Kaffe50.
The coffee is also very good and can compete with other Cafes in the area. There is also a nice selection of Italian Sodas, we especially liked the elderflower and the passionfruit…. just make sure they’re not too sweet.
Kaffe50 is in located in Ekkamai Soi 21, in good company as it is tucked beneath the equally fabulous Moose and next to Tuba. We highly recommend a visit and would predict that once you dropped by there you’ll certainly come back… just like us!
